Based on the film of the same name, Turbo Kid is the upcoming gory homage to classic Metroidvanias of the ‘90s (with a few unexpected spins!) by developer Outerminds.
Easter 1985. Anthony Smith, more commonly known as The Easter Ripper, is executed after being convicted for the murder spree of several young children he had abducted from a shopping mall – under the guise of The Easter Bunny – and tortured at his “murder house”, leaving lives shattered and families ripped apart.
“Tonight, we’ll go inside his vacant home, where 11 innocent children spent their final moments in agonizing pain and terror.”
Your worst nightmare personified, the Bubble Head Nurse from Silent Hill 2 joins the Living Dead Dolls family! Fairly aggressive in nature, this shrieking and gurgling monster is every night terror you’ve ever had…
“Don’t worry, I’m not crazy… at least, I don’t think so.”
Radar Pictures has secured the film rights to BlindSide, the world’s first audio-only mobile adventure game. The project will be developed as Unseen, a horror feature about a couple who wake up blind in a terrifying world they cannot recognize.
“This film will truly bring the fear of the unknown to life by putting the focus of storytelling on what you hear.”
Released in 2013, How to Survive is a survival horror, action role-playing video game that has not aged well in a market flooded with zombie-themed action-fare. I’m surprised this even has a sequel!
“Thanks to my survival guide, you will get through this.”
Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered is a third-person shooter where you play Alec Mason, who has just arrived on Mars looking for work. He barely has time to breathe before he’s thrust into a war between the Earth Defense Force (EDF) and the Red Faction.
I slowly lugged through the game, having no motivation to even finish it. It’s not innovative in its gameplay. The only reason to play it is for the visuals, but even that gets stale after a short time. I think it was perfect Madmind Studio called it Agony because getting to the end is nothing but agonizing.
“I promise that your destiny will soon be fulfilled.”
Netflix have done a brilliant job at exploring the Castlevania story with this season, which is twice the length of the first and has a lot more Dracula. For anyone who didn’t see the first season there’s only two things you need to know: First- Dracula has declared war on the human race after the Church killed his wife. Second- Trevor Belmont (the last descendant of the famous monster fighting family) and Sypha Belnades (a witch) have joined forces with Alucard (Dracula’s son) to defeat the vampire lord himself.
“In killing my wife, humanity has proven to me that they don’t deserve the Earth… We will scour them off the land!”
In 2001, Super7 started as a magazine about vintage Japanese toys. Along the way, they began to develop vinyl figures and toy projects. Now, Super7 have created the iconic robot Maria, from the classic 1927 science fiction silent film Metropolis, and Arthur, from Ghosts ‘n Goblins – the hardest video game ever – as 3.75″ ReAction Figures!
“There can be no understanding between the hands and the brain unless the heart acts as mediator.”
Director Uwe Boll shouldn’t need much of an introduction to film fans. Quite the controversial figure, it seems if he’s not making films that divide opinion, he’s pissing off the people that are.
“Independent movies are dead. What we have left are TV shows, $200mil studio movies and some Oscar contenders. The rest will be $100k movies shot by amateurs and wannabe filmmakers.”
The Liverpool Horror Festival took place in a new venue this year, known as the Invisible Wind Factory which is a re-purposed warehouse, so is really grungy and suitable for a horror festival.
“A celebration of horror!”
Whereas retro zombie video games were the “Next Big Thing” in their days, this is not the case anymore since more stylistic and graphically-rich games have emerged. As a result, gaming enthusiasts across the globe have been forced to forget blasting through corpses in favor of the most current, action-intense games like like those from the Forza Horizon, Mafia and Gears of War series.
