WITCH: We Intend To Cause Havoc (2019, Czech Republic / Italy) Review

At the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia (otherwise known as PZYK) I was introduced to Zamrock – a musical subgenre that combined African rhythm and sound with psychedelic rock – and arguably the most successful Zambian band of the 1970s: WITCH (an acronym for “We Intend To Cause Havoc“). Under the leadership of charismatic lead vocalist Emanuel “Jagari” Chanda, WITCH dominated the PZYK stage from the moment the band re-introduced themselves during ‘Introduction’.

“I had no idea where Zambia was, or how such incredible music could be recorded there, by what looked like a bunch of misfits.”

Spindrift is an American psychedelic rock band that travelled the American West for five weeks, where they exclusively performed in Ghost Towns and haunted locations. They documented all of their travels in the film Spindrift’s Haunted West; a whiskey-soaked psychedelic spaghetti western visual tour-de-force that brings viewers a unique, peyote inspired look behind the curtain of madness and into the Haunted West of yore… Now, Indican Pictures will debut this rock-and-roll documentary on DVD and Digital platforms in July. Fans of psychedelic rock can see for themselves what Spindrift has created.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Announce Chunky Shrapnel Concert film & Accompanying Double LP Live Album

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are excited to announce Chunky Shrapnel, a feature-length motion picture that follows King Gizzard’s adrenaline-inducing onstage performances from the perspective of the band. The film is accompanied by a double LP featuring the music from the film, which was recorded throughout the band’s 2019 European tour. The film will premiere on Friday, April 17 via an online live-stream and the accompanying double LP will be available for pre-order from Friday, April 10, before its digital release on April 24.
