Perhaps better known for his moody gore-laced excursions of the late 70s and 80s, Lucio Fulci was also a master of the Italian thriller genre known as giallo, directing two of its finest entries: Don’t Torture a Duckling and the renowned classic A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin.
This dreamlike giallo follows socialite Carol Hammond (played by Brazilian model Florinda Bolkan) as she struggles to distinguish her highly stylized nightmares from her own stylish reality. With a heady mix of chinchilla overcoats, Francis Bacon and swinging 70s London set to a classic Ennio Morricone soundtrack, Fulci nails the Italian whodunit genre.
